Target compensation of $75,000 annually

We got started in the Fall of 2021, and today we own 9 general dental practices in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri. We expect to add more partners in 2024, and over the next 5 years, we’ll grow to 50+ practices.

As our first hire in Human Resources, you’ll be responsible for everything HR, including:

Strategic HR Planning

  1. Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.

  2. Work closely with leadership team to address emerging HR needs as we grow together.

Employee Relations

  1. Establish and maintain healthy employee relations by fostering open communication.

  2. Address and investigate employee concerns.

Benefits Administration & Payroll

  1. Manage and maintain all information in our Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Paylocity.

  2. Optimize benefits offerings (medical, disability, 401k, etc) to create an industry leading package over time.

  3. Coordinate with finance team to process payroll on time and accurately.

Talent Acquisition

  1. Lead recruitment and onboarding, helping us attract top-tier talent.

  2. Develop effective sourcing strategies and maintain an active pipeline of qualified candidates.

Culture*

  1. Maintain and update Tailwater’s Employee Handbook.

  2. Plan company-wide meetings, including our annual holiday party and summer conference.

  3. Employee engagement, including collecting wins and good news to celebrate together and feature in our CEO’s weekly KPI (Keeping People Informed) email.

  4. Maintain a database of employee info so each person can be recognized, supported, and celebrated according to their preferences.

Training, Development, & Performance Management

  1. Identify training needs and work closely with lead dentists and practice managers to foster professional development for all team members.

  2. Implement training programs to help our team reach professional goals aligned with Tailwater’s business objectives.

  3. Implement performance management processes and support managers when it comes to delivering feedback with radical candor.

  4. Assistant in resolving performance-related issues.

Compensation Planning

  1. Lead and participate in compensation planning.

  2. Ensure compensation structures are fair, transparent, objective, and designed to attract and retain top talent.

Compliance & Policy Development

  1. Develop and maintain HR operations aligned with best practices of the world’s healthiest and most successful companies.

  2. Ensure compliance with employment laws and update HR policies.

HR Metrics & Reporting

  1. Develop and maintain HR metrics for assessing effectiveness of Tailwater’s HR programs.

  2. Provide regular updates / reports to our leadership team on key HR initiatives.

About you

  1. 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in high-growth settings (healthcare or dental experience a bonus, but not required).

  2. Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  3. Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision.

  4. While you hate being in a slow-moving bureaucracy, you’re obsessed with quality and precision.

  5. You long to join a culture that’s big on relationships, dignity, flourishing, and winning.

  6. You know how to research and find answers and solutions to problems and don’t shy away from doing so.

  7. You’re results-oriented and measure everything for yourself as much as you do it for the business.

  10. You’re a good person. You believe in loving people and using things, not the other way around.

  11. BA/BS in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  12. You live or want to live in Nashville, TN. This is an onsite-first role. You can work from home a day or two each week (eventually), but you’ll be more successful if you work from Tailwater HQ regularly.

  13. Bonus points if you’re familiar with one or more of the following books: Work Rules! by Laszlo Bock, Radical Candor by Kim Scott, Multipliers by Liz Wiseman, Traction by Gino Wickman

  14. More bonus points if you’re familiar with one or more of the following tools: Paylocity HRIS, Employee Navigator

Compensation

$70,000 - $75,000 annual salary, 401k match up to 4%, competitive benefits, and opportunities for annual bonuses as Tailwater grows.
